OMARSA: Processing Plant Biosafety Protocols

Dear Customers:

As you may be aware, China has been concerned about food safety since an outbreak was discovered last month in a gigantic wholesale market in southern Beijing.

Customs have since tested more than 220,000 samples of food products and their packaging.

This is what was announced on July in the joint press conference that involved GACC, MOFCOM, Ministry of Health and Government Bureau for market supervision:

– Santa Priscila (plant 24887) found 1 case of Covid on the inside wall of the sipping reefer container. This was in Dalian Port.
– Empacreci (plant 681) found Covid on the outside of 3 box packaging. No mention at which port.
– Edpacif (plant 654) found Covid on the outside of 2 box packaging. This was in Xiamen port.

Between July 3rd to 9th, 2020 GACC tested 227,934 samples:

-Product: 43,964
-Packaging: 147,568
-Environment: 36,402

Out of the 227,934 samples, 227,928 are Covid negative, 6 are positive as listed. None of the samples tested positive in the shrimp itself. The virus found was not contagious, as it was found dead, but PCR test only shows if DNA of the virus is present or not.
